Juliana and James | Ireland Adventure Session
If you read my previous blog post about my trip to Ireland (you can find that here) you learned that Ireland isn’t just filled with beautiful castles and coastal views but the people there are just as beautiful. We partnered with a number of vendors to help with our styled shoots on this adventurous trip and two of the vendors were sweet enough to step in front of our cameras for photos.
Juliana and James own a flower farm in Galway, Ireland. You can view more of their AMAZING work and cute story here. I mean how dreamy does it sounds to own a flower farm with your husband in Ireland? These two are so beautiful inside and out and I was so drawn to their life, work and story.
“I’m always trying to capture this floral magic in my arrangements, taking my cues from nature and not contriving or controlling my materials too much, but rather letting the idiosyncrasies and personalities of each stem guide me.”
– Juliana
This quote from her website totally inspires me. You can tell the passion and skill this couple has. Please explore their page and love on their work! And if you ever find yourself drawn to eloping or getting married in Ireland these are your people for amazing wedding florals.
Florals for a wedding day will always be one of my favorite parts about the day. I have my wedding flowers dried in a terrarium on our dresser. I love the memories that come along with their display. Fresh flowers not only make for gorgeous photos but having something that can be kept and displayed in your home even after your wedding is so neat.
This session was so special to me because Juliana and James were one of the couples that we photographed that weren’t hired as models for a styled shoot. This session was so raw and organic. We photographed them in whatever clothes they came in. We didn’t worry about having to have a certain color scheme or look in the clothing or hair like the other shoots we did had. We just let the wind, rain, and gorgeous view have its way and this all displayed Juliana and James love so perfectly.
If you have ever wondered what the term all these photographers are referring to when you hear “adventure photography session” this is the perfect example. Most adventure sessions involve an untraditional location for photos. The session usually involves some form of “getting dirty”, I like to say, or hiking. When I think of an adventure session I think of bare toes in the sand or wind blown hair or even splashing in the water. These types of sessions are certainly not for everyone but I think for me they might be my favorite type of session.
The combination of capturing the beauty of the outdoors or an epic location mixed with you and your loved one just being who you are is so fun and freeing to me. Being playful, un-staged, unposed, and just real. To me this is so special. I love that I was able to do this in as gorgeous of a place as Slieve League in Ireland. I can’t wait to go back :).
Thanks so much, Juliana and James for letting me into your world and capture your sweet love.
xoxo- Jacy
