Ireland | Adventure Styled Weddings and Elopements
In April I went on a trip that I will never forget. Myself and 6 other girls in the wedding industry made our way across the world to the beautiful country of Ireland. I have longed to go to Ireland since I saw the movie P.S. I love you (slightly embarrassing, I know). This movie movie made Ireland appear as a dream. Mix in a love story and I only imagined how beautiful this place would be to photograph adventure weddings and elopements and all kinds of love. I wondered if a place that stunning could exist and since then I had been planning and dreaming of visiting!
I knew that this trip would be nothing short of an adventure but I left this beautiful place with so much more than gorgeous photos and a wonderful experience.
We began planning our trip like most people do…not really having any idea where to start or how to pull this off. We were hoping to find a few people to photograph and if not just take photos of each other. All we knew is that we wanted to take photos and as MANY photos as we could :). When my friend Jenna with He and She Weddings got involved and decided to join us on the trip things really started to come together. Jenna made these styled shoots happen. If you are looking for someone to style or plan your wedding SHE is your girl. I was in awe of her talent, passion, and ability to bring a vision to life.
So we flew to Ireland with about 6 suitcases of all of our props and dresses and were ready to make this happen. We did a total of about 6-7 styled adventure weddings and elopements and more. We partnered with some amazing vendors and models and photographed styled weddings in gorgeous locations including Giant’s Causeway, the Dark Hedges, Slieve League and a few amazing abandoned Irish castles.
We made ourselves at home starting and ending in Dublin, Ireland. I was overwhelmed by the energy and beauty of this city. We gathered our props from various vendors including Wild Sage Bakery Her desserts were to die for.
Then, we made our way to the East Coast and began our journey North up the coast stopping at the Cliffs of Moher and Slieve League. After that, we continued on into Northern Ireland where we saw where the Game of Thrones is filmed and visited the Dark Hedges and Giant’s Causeway. We photographed for hours upon hours each day. We hiked, got rained on, laughed, cried, and stood in awe at the people we got to photographed and the places we got to go.
Not only was I in complete awe of the beauty of ALL of Ireland, but I was amazed and the beauty of the people. Everywhere we went we made friends. The people we worked with were so friendly and kind to us. We felt so welcomed in this country. I don’t remember ever feeling unsafe or unwelcome and that made the trip that much better. Not to mention the pub life is best. I am still dreaming of Guinness and fish and chips :).
This adventure with my photographer friends shaped me so much as a person and as a photographer. It was a time to truly create and experiment. It made me realize that I want to encourage my clients to expand their horizons on what a wedding or elopement can look like or where it can take place. Dream big when it comes to your wedding and if you need help I would love to dream with you!
I am longing to go back to Ireland. This place forever changed me and opened my eyes in so many way. I am so grateful to have had an experience like this.
If you are looking for a wedding photographer to capture your adventure wedding or elopement please consider taking me with you! We will create, explore, and capture beauty together. And why not let that location be Ireland :). I mean, I might just be a little biased :).
